The Chinook People
The Chinook People were several tribes in the Pacific Northwest.. They had a tradition of flattening the heads of babies in their tribe with boards. The flat-headed were believed to be superior to the round-headed. Slavery was used by the Chinookans, a practice borrowed from other tribes.
The Chinook People were fishers and hunters. There is one type of salmon known as the Chinook Salmon, presumably named after the natives. Salmon was the most popular food for these tribes.
The Chinook people were non-migratory, leading to very few conflicts over territory. Nowadays, most Chinookans live in Ilwaco, Bay Center and Chinook.
